ARM & HAMMER® AND LAMBERT KAY®
NAME ARIZONA HUMANE SOCIETY 2004 ANIMAL SHELTER OF THE YEAR
Arizona Humane Society To Be Honored at 50th Annual Show Dogs of the Year
Banquet
Princeton, NJ (January 17, 2005) – One of the extraordinary awards to be
handed out at the 50th Annual Show Dogs of the Year Banquet will go to those
who work tirelessly to save the lives of less fortunate animals. ARM &
HAMMER® and Lambert Kay® have teamed up to honor an outstanding animal shelter
with the 2004 Animal Shelter of the Year Award. More than 100 amazing entries
were received, but once the votes were tallied all paws pointed toward one
winner…the Arizona Humane Society.
Located in Phoenix, the Arizona Humane Society is the state’s largest nonprofit
animal welfare center, taking in more than 37,000 unwanted, sick, abused and
injured animals each year. With unique programs such as its Second Chance
Animal Hospital™, an equine-assisted psychotherapy program for youth, and the
state’s only Emergency Animal Medical Technicians™, who function as pet
paramedics, the Arizona Humane Society unmistakably topped the list as the 2004
Animal Shelter of the Year.
“Animal shelters across the country should be proud of the work they do to care
for unwanted and abused animals in their communities,” said Bob Nicastro, Brand
Manager, Lambert Kay Brand Pet Products. “While all the entries were
noteworthy, we were impressed and inspired by the time and devotion that the
staff and volunteers at the Arizona Humane Society have dedicated to bettering
the lives of all animals in the state.”
The ARM & HAMMER® and Lambert Kay® 2004 Animal Shelter of the Year was
judged based upon the following criteria: specific stories and examples
demonstrating devotion to animals and pets; innovative programs exhibited by
the shelter; the number of animals and pets serviced by the shelter; and the
shelter involvement within the community.
“We were thrilled to find out that we had been selected as the 2004 Animal
Shelter of the Year,” said Kimberly Noetzel, Vice President of Marketing &
Community Relations at the Arizona Humane Society. “Our staff works nonstop to
try to improve the life of each animal that comes through our doors and in most
cases, find the animals a home with a loving family. Hopefully, this
recognition will help us to continue to expand our programs and to love and
care for more unwanted and sick animals.”
The Arizona Humane Society will be honored at the 50th Annual Show Dogs of the
Year Banquet held in New York City on February 12, 2005, at the Grand Hyatt New
York, where they will be presented with a framed certificate, signifying them
as the 2004 Animal Shelter of the Year. In addition, the Arizona Humane Society
will receive a supply of ARM & HAMMER® and Lambert Kay® quality pet care
products as well as a trip to New York City where two executives from the
Arizona Humane Society will accept the prestigious special award.
The Show Dogs of the Year Banquet will take place on the eve of the Westminster
Dog Show in New York City, where all the brightest stars of the show dog world
compete in their most prominent show of the year. This will be the third year
in a row that the spotlight of the banquet will be extended to encompass all
aspects of the dog world and honor the achievements of the many dedicated
enthusiasts who care for the health, welfare and beauty of the show dog, the
family dog and the homeless dog.
